A GeeK.[Slang] 1. a computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.) 2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual. 3. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken. Holland’s largest chain of coffee shops is called CoffeCompany. They wanted to attract more students, so they installed WiFi in some of its stores near universities. The problem is, lots of students just come into the store for the WiFi but hardly look at the menu.
So CoffeeCompany decided to move the store’s menu into the WiFi menu of customers’ laptops. They periodically changed the wireless network name from the normal “CoffeeCompany” to hard-selling headlines. So as students looked for a network, they found menu lines such as “mmm….YummyMuffinsOnly1,99″
My colleague shared this with me yesterday. It is hilarious. It has the great markings of a viral video. Definitely something worth passing around. The interesting thing is, these are the same guys that brought us the Giant Gummy Worm and the Giant Gummy Bear - most of which were sold out completely by the time i saw the viral video and clicked through. Not a bad business model. Sell rubbish and create rubbish videos that people like and will send around. They sell the most ridic things that one would wonder “who buys these things?”
So instead of rating 1 to 5, you just simply indicate if a product, service, whatever has your stamp of approval. Just wondering if this can be simply replaced with a Facebook like button or a Google +1?
