A GeeK.[Slang] 1. a computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.) 2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual. 3. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken. That's my elektroDNA. What is your elektroDNA?

A Smart Watch. An Android Watch. Italiano Watch. iSync with iPhone. Well, enough of that. I like the concept and i think it’s cool. However, like with a lot of technology, i’m sure it’s really smart and can do amazing things, but they’re not telling exactly what you can do with it if you were an iphone user. Are all the elements on the I’m Watch sync-able? Or is the watch stand alone with some features being pulled from the iphone? Much more needs to be revealed, and i bet their early adopters will be insane techies who are willing to spend, to discover. More conservative early adopters, will buy upon first review - i guess i’m the latter though the concept is tempting me like cray cray.
For Art Directors everywhere. This is cool, funny and true!
(via adteachings ”I just got an email from the delightful Aron Fried of DDB in New York. He let me know that he was the writer on the “Make it a pony” poster for the Art Directors Club (posted two days ago). Aron was kind enough to send along the full campaign for our collective delectation. I’ve posted my favourites here. Jeez, some of them are so true I kind of did a simultaneous LOL and SOD (sob of despair). Those would be “The testing,” “Men/women 0-95,” “Schedule a meeting” and “My dog hates cats” (I’ve literally heard a version of the last one). Full credits are posted below. Thank you, Aron.

Commendable work from Droga5. Really touching video that evokes all sorts of emotions surrounding this. That is exactly what Tribal DDB is doing with the Infocomm Accessibility Centre Singapore. Giving the disabled a chance to rise above their disabilities to reach their potential, to be their best and nothing less. Kudos. In our busy schedules it’s always difficult, but we should always find some time to give back.
Apple iPhone 4/S Ways To Improve Battery Performance
Turn down the screen’s brightness. You don’t need the glare from the screen all the time really.
Auto-Lock your screen. No more accidentally leaving it on and having it drain battery. This step helps save that much more of your precious battery life.
Disable 3G when there’s really no need (or if you are going to be in an area where 3G service is intermittent or bad).
Switch off Push mail and automatic checking unless necessary. This reduces the server load. Also, for iCloud and any other services - automatic syncing usually means a drain on the battery. Go easy with this one and turn on only those that really matter.
Notification Center - Remove or turn off notifications that you don’t really care about. I take out the weather, stock information as well as lay to rest many apps where i don’t care to be notified immediately. Also, don’t have too many notifications that “view on lock screen”, it causes your screen to come on more than you would like, thereby draining your battery again.
Turn off services when not in use (Bluetooth, Wifi, Personal Hotspot, etc).
Disable Location Based Services (those that you don’t really need to use and those under System Services that may not be applicable to your country or you don’t use like Compass Callibration, Location-Based iAds, Setting Time Zone, Traffic).
Under Settings, General, About, Diagnostics & Usage, don’t send. Automatically send just seems logical that every little error sent will unwittingly drain your battery for no apparent reason.
Clean Up - Make sure you kill any active apps in the background. Double click your menu button and X them all ever so often and at least you know those apps aren’t going to go ape shit on your battery.
That’s what i did, maybe this will help you with your battery life!
HP - The Computer is Personal Again. I must say i must agree with inderdeepgill. I love the executions for HP Personal Systems Group TVCs. Best in the day. I used to work on HP digital campaigns for Asia Pacific and i must say, i had tons of fun. They should really bring that back in a big way. Well, anything with Pharrell in it really rocks anyhow.
(via inderdeepgill ”Yeah, I’m a Mac man, but I love these advert’s HP ran for its campaign in 2008/2009. Such creativity and I love the way it links to the customer context of it being personal, because if you think about it, a computer is personal isn’t it? We all have our own wallpapers that we love, to do with our personality, passion, interests etc. then we have our own different softwares, some people have things i’ve never even heard off! I would say a Mac is much more personal though, every dock is different to the individual.”)
iOS is coming up tops in the latest Mobile/Tablet Top Operating System Share Trend.
These are the rankings:
iOS
Android
JavaME
Symbian
BlackBerry
Others
Android has increased significantly in share too. BlackBerry saw a bit of a surge at one point, guess it’s due to the improved web browser since the buy out of Torch in the BlackBerry 6 software, but they saw a recent dip in share. The rest are also seeing massive drops. So far, i don’t think there’s anything in the market that can really be called an iPhone/iPad or iOS killer as yet.
Oh please. NOT another video that oversells the overpromise of an exciting future. I would love to think we’re headed there and soon, but it will take a while. All these concepts are great, but battery and power technology hasn’t really received revolution of any kind. Just because they have that Table Top computing coffee table which is so bloody expensive, doesn’t mean anything.
Apple is moving towards a sound future. While the rest of the industry is heavily focused on touch and gesturing, as much as they are indeed a little more natural in movement, the truth is it gets tiring after a while. Definitely not if you think you’re a mobile warrior looking for cray cray productivity. Voice might be a good way to go, but i truly believe that it’s a combination of both. Why limit yourself with one input or response mechanism? Silent mode doesn’t work for voice-activated tasks and gesture can kick in later.
Where are the damn hoverboards promised to us in 2015? Are we even close? Honestly, big corporations should have the funds to actually eventuate these ideas. We’re moving too slow and we hardly hear any technology or future leadership from battery manufacturers on their improvements or thought leadership for that matter. I think all the other components that fit together should experience the same kind of growth for the future, not simply the overview. It’s not feasible to focus on the wow factor and neglect that operationally, we’re quite far from achieving the concepts.
And there’s poor Nokia Morph Future Phone Concept. We almost forgot they came out with a similar type video to share concepts years ago. They always seem to come up with how they see the future, wow us and we forget. Then someone else comes along and launches a video like the Microsoft one and it’s totally fresh and cool.
I’d say the proof is in the action. Enough talk and concepts - JUST DO IT and wow us, perhaps like Lytro. From conceptualization to execution, they at least are ready to pre-order, from press release, less than a year. Now, that’s brilliant.
